When it comes to crafting or kids activities, my all time favourite is anything that involves sensory play.  You see, sensory play is loaded with benefits! Kids learn trial and error, conservation of mass, hypothesis testing, and so much more. Yesterday, my son and I set went to the store to grab a couple of ingredients to create coloured cloud dough. When I found pumpkin spice in the bulk section, I could not resist. Coloured cloud dough is SO easy to make! Adding pumpkin spice creates an extra dimension that is so much fun.

Here is how to make pumpkin spiced coloured cloud dough!

Pumpkin Spice Coloured Cloud Dough Recipe

Cloud dough is a great way to engage in sensory play! This is a great fall activity for kids. Plus, it's really easy to make. This coloured cloud dough is also pumpkin scented! It smells amazing and is such a fun sensory experience for toddlers, preschoolers, and all early learners. Great for early childhood education classrooms or at home. Sensory play, play dough, cloud dough, coloured cloud dough, sensory play, learning through play activities.

What you need

  • Food processor
  • 8 cups of any type of flour
  • 2-3 pieces sidewalk chalk
  • 1 1/2 cups of vegetable oil or baby oil
  • 1/2 cup of pumpkin spice
  • Glitter, Fall leaf confetti, and candy pumpkin optional
  • Container
  • Old sheet, disposable table cloth, or patio

What to do

Using a food processor, grate chalk until it’s a fine dust. Combine all ingredients in a container, aluminium pan, or similar. Add in glitter, or confetti, and pumpkins. Grab household toys such as tractors, diggers, farm animals, and sand toys. To contain the mess, place the container on old sheet, disposable table cloth or outside. Then enjoy!
